Meet Abbie Askegaard, DDS
A native of Nisswa, Minnesota, Dr. Abbie Askegaard combines a lifelong passion for helping others with a deep appreciation for the art of dentistry. Drawn to family dentistry for its unique ability to serve patients of all ages, Dr. Askegaard enjoys building lasting relationships and helping individuals achieve healthy, confident smiles that reflect their best selves.
Dr. Askegaard graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2017, earning a degree in biology from the College of Biological Sciences. During her undergraduate years, she was recognized for her proficiency in Spanish and for her volunteer work at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Center. Continuing her education at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree with distinction in 2021. Her dedication to service was acknowledged with awards for her involvement in Give Kids a Smile and volunteer work with children.
Committed to staying at the forefront of modern dentistry, Dr. Askegaard regularly participates in continuing education courses. She has advanced training in Invisalign®, SureSmile®, and Lumineers®, allowing her to provide patients with customized smile transformations that enhance both health and aesthetics. She also pursues ongoing education in endodontics, restorative dentistry, laser dentistry, and CAD/CAM technology—bringing the latest innovations, including same-day restorations and laser-assisted treatments, to her patients.
Dr. Askegaard’s gentle, patient-centered philosophy focuses on empowering patients to play an active role in their dental care. She takes time to explain treatment options clearly and thoughtfully, ensuring each person feels informed, comfortable, and confident in their choices. Many of her patients express gratitude for her calming presence and compassionate approach, especially those who have experienced dental anxiety in the past.

Dr. Askegaard lives in Maple Grove with her husband, daughter, and their labradoodle. She enjoys spending time outdoors, going for walks, and horseback riding—an interest that led her to place fifth at the National Dressage Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky, in 2023. She is also active in her church and participates in two local book clubs.
